Free tools and bespoke animations for adult social care

Updating our free adult social care journey animation series and launching our new bespoke animation service for councils.

Using animations to improve peoples’ experience with Adult Social Care (ASC) services is the recognisable core of our BetterCare Suite, which offers a care & support assessment, financial assessment as well as a dedicated carers pathway – all of which contain around 30 unique animations each, guiding the service user every step of the way.

What are the adult social care journey animations?

The ‘adult social care journey series’ is a set of free resources that helps people to navigate their care journey; and are available to all UK local authorities completely free of charge. They support adult social care teams by providing helpful, accessible information to the public and reduce traffic at the front door.  The animations provide clear, compassionate, and practical advice, covering essential topics:

  • Introduction to adult social care
  • What to expect on first contact
  • Care and support assessments
  • Financial assessments
  • Your care options
  • Paying for care (part 1 and 2)
  • Carers support
  • Safeguarding
  • Jargon buster, to simplify complex terms

Since launching in late 2024, over 30 local authorities across the UK have partnered with Infoshare+ to adopt this this digital, animation-guided approach at the Adult Social Care front door. Interestingly, the idea for the ASC journey animations came directly from a local authority:

“Walsall Council were experiencing a high volume of traffic at their adult social care front door and approached us after seeing our animation-led BetterCare Suite. They believed the same inclusive and accessible approach could be used to help people better engage with their adult social care team. They were right!

Co-produced with local government experts and those with lived experience, we’ve developed a series of ten adult social care journey animations to help people more confidently navigate their adult social care journey. They map the entire journey, explain each step, and clarify where the council supports them – empowering people to own their relationship with the ASC team and supporting more positive experiences.”

Guy Giles, Managing Director of Infoshare+

Seeing the animations in action

Herefordshire County Council uses the animations at strategic points on their website to guide people through adult social care processes. For example, when someone heads to the page for info about  paying for their care, the ‘Paying for your care’ animation is positioned at the top of the page to help people gain an understanding before taking their next step.

Steve Brotherwood, Senior Project Manager on the Transformation Team at Herefordshire County Council, said:

“We have received some really great feedback in relation to the [Adult Social Care Journey] animations that we have embedded on some of the Herefordshire Council Website pages. Management and Councillors across the council have commented on how engaging they are and what a great alternative to just standard text.”

Any more free animations coming?

Well yes, now you ask! Following the rapid success of the ten free ASC journey animations, we’ve been exploring ways to support local authorities with more free resources. Next week, we’ll be launching two more free animations, this time, aimed at supporting co-production. Don’t forget to check back (or keep an eye on our LinkedIn – we’ll announce when they’re live)!

Love the animations, but want something more bespoke?

You asked, we listened. Since launching the free set of ASC animations, we’ve had several appeals for bespoke animations for various areas of the council (not just adult social care).

We’re now launching a new bespoke animation service to address your unique challenges and messaging needs – whether in Children’s Social Care, Blue Badge, Housing, or even internal staff training. Get in touch if this is something you’re interested in – you’ll be in good company, with the likes of Herefordshire County Council, who are exploring a similar set of animations for children’s social care. Tina Russell, Corporate Director of Children’s Services at Herefordshire County Council said:

“I saw the work Infoshare+ had done with Adult’s [Social Care Journey animations] and have reached out to see what we might achieve working together in Children’s [Social Care].”
